JUDE’S STORY
On July 23, 2014, our healthy son Jude unexpectedly and tragically passed away at only three months old. His life was claimed by a silent killer known as “SIDS” – Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Not much is known about what causes SIDS, but it typically strikes children under one year of age without notice. Over 4,000 lives are suddenly cut short each year in this country due to SIDS; that equates to about 1 in every 2,000 precious children born. SIDS is the number one cause of death in children under one year of age in the U.S.

THE IMPACT OF SIDS
In 2010, a study from the Boston Children’s Hospital concluded that there may be a link between brainstem abnormalities and serotonin deficiencies and SIDS.
More studies like this need to be conducted to develop this theory and help find a way to detect SIDS before it kills more healthy babies.

To honor our son Jude and to fight to protect other babies from this devastating syndrome, we have established the Jude Zayac Foundation. The mission of Jude’s Foundation is to raise funds to support SIDS research and to enrich the lives of living children in our community. Enrichment we know in our hearts sweet Jude would have provided if he were here. We hope to accomplish this mission by hosting a large annual community event, a 5K run/walk followed by a community celebration to promote SIDS awareness and provide our community with a day of family-friendly fun.
